Matt and David, thank you for your thoughts. I am still puzzled by the fact that Scott doesn't list some of the overprints in one or the other color. Logically, it would seem that they know something that Michel doesn't, though I doubt it very much. Anyway, I have a stemp that exists according to Michel, and doesn't according to Scott. What's new under the Moon?

iomoon, as far as I know (I criss-crossed Armenia several times), there's nothing "alleged" about Armenian genocide perpetrated by Turks. It always has been an official policy of the Turkish government to deny anything and everything having to do with them killing millions of Armenians. However, there are tens of thousands of witnesses still alive, who tell the one and the same story: Turks, enraged by their loss of European possessions and by being beaten by Greeks on the Western shores, lashed out at defenseless Ottoman Armenians, raping and murdering everything that moved, gutting out unarmed elders and children, group-raping and mutilating women, burning houses and exterminating cattle and orchards. Even a Turkish writer Pamouk, Nobel prize winner, admitted as much (he cannot now show his face in Turkey, fearing for his life, and his books are thrown out of libraries: also a mass admission of guilt, in its own way).

Your single word, "alleged," is a perfect example of "political correctness" being an insult to the truth, and to all those who experience it firsthand. There is nothing "alleged" about facts, and the fact is that armed Turks killed millions of unarmed Armenians. Yes, yes, I know that there were some Armenian troops advancing with the Russian army -- but we are talking exterminating civilian population here, and genocide is an exact and correct term describing what really happened.

Alex,

Gibbons also catalogues them in Violet & Black.

There was a similar occurence with the 1st. NWPI overprints of 1915 New Guinea, Gibbons used to catalogue them in Black & Purple then deleted all the Purple overprints and added a note " We no longer differentiate between Purple & Black overprints. In our opinion the two colours are nowadays insufficiently distinct to warrant separation ".

I agree that they are very difficult to tell from the face of the stamp but the impressions on the reverse of the Purple overprints definitely show Purple tinges and are easy to tell on mint stamps,

For the uninitiated, January 6th is Christmas day in Armenia.

Having married an Armenian and the fact that the early stamps feature Mt. Ararat keep me interestested in the early printings.

This was a complicated time due to the alleged Turkish annhiliations of Armenians, the short term Armenian State and the take-over by the Russians from 1920-22.

I am waiting to meet some relatives who can enlighten me a bit more.

Alex,

re: Armenia overprints

There may not be a true supply difference between black and violet overprints so Michel and Soloviev don't differentiate listings for them.

I checked my 1937 Scott Catalogue and they listed the violet and black overprints separately back then, too. After all these years of Americans using the Scott Catalogues a demand might have been created among collectors and dealers. People trying to fill spots in their Scott-based albums will be looking for the 2 different overprints.

I am one of those that believe Scott pulls their values out of thin air (or thin research, or dealer's wishful thinking).

Are there any Armenian experts out there willing to theorize?

I have a question regarding Armenian hand-stamped overprints of 1919. Both Michel and the best Russian catalog (Soloviev's) don't make any distinction between black and violet overprints. Scott, however, lists black and violet overprints separately, under different numbers. Some of the overprints are not listed in Scott (for example, a violet framed overprint on 15 kopecks green and lilac). Does it mean that Scott did some serious research and established that this violet overprint on 15k is always a fake? Or is it just another attempt by Scott to be "different" from Michel, and, as it is often the case in Scott listings outside the U.S. material, their listed/not listed policy in this case is just an obfuscation resulting from confusion and lack of knowledge?

mikedak… Rats—you are correct. I saw the “d” of the dial type and misread that as the value rating. It is indeed a “b”. Looks like the LKU has been updated since the catalog too. Double rats!!

Matt in AZ and Jaywild,
re: Goshen Hampden
Nice find. I just did a big update to the Hampden list (which will hopefully someday morph into an article in the MCS Forum, since there are a few new towns). That particular Goshen how has EKU of 1901 0726 and a LKU of 1901 1028 (with a rumor of a 1902 0201 out there). If you have any other dates that may be early or late for any Hampdens, please let me know.

Also, Jim, I think you misread the value guide for that particular one. It is a 'b', which is $20-$40. ;-(

Matt in AZ… Your Goshen Indiana mark is indeed a Hampden, and a very nice one on a couple counts. First, it is a scarce type, B-8 dial d, ($75-150) in use for a very short time in 1901, and secondly because yours apparently is a new LKU. The MCS catalog shows latest use of 23 Aug 1901.

Do you have contact with Alex Savakis of the Machine Cancel Society? I think he would be very interested in updating the catalog.

Rainer…

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

nut-e-prof... Those revenue stamps are plentiful. If you find one that is imperforate it might be worth some money, but the chance of that is extremely slim. They were produced by the millions, because they indeed financed the Union side in the American Civil War, a few cents at a time.

Vicki: that one is quite possibly the most common revenue of the civil war. Taxed photos are generally common; this one is probably worth more for the photo than anything, but it's still only a dollar or three. (some crazy people, like me, collect photos for the photographer imprints too).

Good morning all and especially to Rainer "22028" who I wish a very happy 50th birthday.

The Romania site I linked to yesterday was one I think I actually saved from you David B. A couple of years back I had some Romania classic stamps and I was unsure how to spot the forgeries. I don't know what made me look at it again yesterday and post the link. I suppose it's nice to have information on non English speaking countries in English.

Jeff very nice lot of rates you have shown. Re scanning I scan at 150dpi for stamps and 300dpi for covers. Enlarge the scan for single stamps if wanting to show details. Reduce the size for covers then using Paint.net I simply compress the images to a size that should allow most to see it quickly even if on dial up internet connection. I can try and post a link later to show the results and explain how paint.net is easy to use. It's a free download and one I use all the time. Dare say there are other image enhancement programs available also.

Jay-Jim: I think you are likely correct that it is a single piece third class item.

I have scanned some items from my third class collections, and trust the links go ok. I have a feeling the scans are not going to be crisp. What dpi and size do others scan for posting here. Mine are at 72, 100%.

Undated post card with 3 precancelled halves, lacking appropriate PL&R endorsement, likely in the 1-1/2c third class bulk rate which started in 1952. The 2-cent post card rate became effective at the same time. Love the furniture.

Short-paid single piecewith half-cent postage due stamp, Baltimore roller precancel affixed. Evidence of another stamp once affixed at LL corner. That is how a half cent postage due was paid, recipient paid 1 cent and got an extra half-cent due stamp.

Jeff-raff… Yes, I indicated I thought it was a third-class mailing. It can as easily be a regular (i.e. non bulk-rate) third class mailing, if sent between 1925 and the end of 1948. It would depend on how many items were mailed at one time.

I think I have seen many examples of the “Non-Profit Org.” notation well prior to the implementation of the official rate. It may have served the same purpose as a “third class mail” notation insofar as alerting the PO that the rate is correct.

Jay-Jim - some observationn your 1/2c Prexie + 1c meter Non-Profit cover...

The Non-Profit endorsement per B&W did not begin until 12-21-54.

There never was a 1.5c Non-Profit rate. There was 1.4c and 1.6c in 1968 and 1969. There are of course false frankings with additional postage paid at time of mailing or credit given mailers when overpaid.

Third class regular bulk rate of 1.5c began Jul 1 1952 and increased to 2c Jul 1 1960. This rate makes more sense for this cover in spite of the Non-Profit endorsement, and likely, in my opinion, was allowed to pass as the third class regular bulk rate required a higher postage payment.

I hope to post some half cent items later tonite, time for a laydown.

I scan both the stamp and a reliable mm scale at 900 dpi, then on the image I copy the scale and move it over the image of the stamp. I've had some particularly difficult times with measurements on postal stationery in order to ID varieties.
Those are often more like your "measurements of portraits" than framelines.

re: Measuring Stamps

In general, measurements are taken outer edge to outer edge. In other words, your measurement should yield the largest possible number.

The difficult ones are measurements of portraits. Then it's front of nose to back of head.

Of course, the best way is to have reference copies of each measurement or templates of the stamps!

This question never occurs to me until I actually have to make a measurement on a stamp.

When making a measurement of a stamp's design down to the 1/2mm or even 1/4mm, what part of the design elements are you supposed to use?

Easiest example would be total design size, frameline to frameline.
Is the measurement supposed to be made from the outsides of the lines or from the middle of the lines?

So, aside of oggilby's possibility of a 1/2 cent prexie on a bulk mail item, jaywild's usage as an uprate seems to be the current leader in for a non-philatelic solo use.
I can imagine a pair being used for some sort of 1 cent rate.
I guess that leaves my philatelic use block of 4 at most a poor third (if not lower.)

Jeff-raff… I had to shell out for that 10¢ coil card. Haven’t seen another in a couple years of eBay trolling.

Another Xmas present to myself—a 6¢ prexy used on a “Two-in-One” mailer bag/envelope. The idea was to send an item in the bag parcel post and attach a message in the envelope, paying parcel rate for the item and first class for the letter only. The distinction was lost on this sender apparently, who sent the whole shebang first class.

?

The 6¢ image above is also an attempt to use the macro feature on my camera. IMO a scan is still better.

Bulk mail, pre-sorted and non-profit, need a special permit, obtained from the Post Office, before you can use them on first class mail. Then the envelope(s) must be presented to the postal clerk along with the permit in order for the clerk to accept the envelope(s).

Is it OK to use stamps marked presorted, non-profit or bulk rate on regular (first class) mail? There is a seller on Ebay, selling $20 lots of unused stamps who says included in the lot are stamps as mentioned above. He says they can be used by anyone on regular mail without a special permit. Is that true? I did use some of those precancelled 10¢ Christmas stamps once without a problem, but only because I didn't notice that they were so marked. Guidance appreciated, Thanks.

Prexie-wild (jay) - that is a really nice 10c coil card. I have had a couple 11c prexie solos on overseas cards but never a 10c coil.

Yes there is no legit use of the single half-cent, I have seen a few singles favor cancelled by postmark collectors of that time but were obviously handbacks. When I put one up it still brings a few dollars.

I just snagged this Liberty Series cover, apparently franked for a 5x weight letter and still underpaid.

Samoan Language Question...

Everything stated has been correct, I will add my 'lua sene' to clarify:

Polynesian Reduplication: Works like Pago Pago, Bora Bora, Wiki Wiki. Used to amplify meaning. Plus, they just sound neat. See
an example/explanation here.

Pago Pago. Locals just say Pago. As David and Roger mentioned the missionaries tried to bring Christianity and writing to the Islands simultaneously. So they created the alphabets used in The Friendly Islands (Tonga), The Navigator Islands (Samoa), and The Sandwich Islands (Hawaii). They used the English 'G' to represent the 'ng' sound. Old stamps of Tonga are spelled 'Toga'. The problem is that the country name is written in Tongan but pronounced in English. Like Americans mangling French words, trying to sound them out as if in English.

Pago is pronounced like the 'pong' in American English 'ping-pong'. Also, the 'sa' of Samoa is emphasized more than the 'moa' ending.

It is very difficult for English speakers to pronounce the 'G' in Samoan. It is like an 'ng' but the tongue needs to be formed in the mouth in a certain way. After 15 years living there I still couldn't do it right. There is a village in American Samoa named Fogogogo. Palagi's (European descent) always mangle the pronunciation so we all call it 'Freddy's Beach'.

dcderoo… I don’t believe there are any proper solo usages of the ½¢ prexy. This is about as close as you can get, added to a 1¢ meter stamp to make the third class rate.

Christmas goodies… Here is something I bought myself for Christmas—a solo use of the 10¢ prexy coil on an airmail postcard to Germany. It is not a perfect usage, since the 10¢ Liberty was available and the rate at the time was 11¢, thus earning the card a “T” marking, but I’m sure the intent was not philatelic.

Not much stampwise.

I bought a new camera but still need to buy a macro lens for it.

I kept getting outbid on Robson Lowe Encyclopedias, so more or less gave up on them.

I did buy joint China-Mexico volcano issue which is somewhere in the mail right now.

Usual really exciting christmas gifts - socks, underwear, jeans, shirts. All of which I need, so no complaints.

Just wish someone could have bought me something totally "useless".

Well, for starters I have one on cover, but it’s on a #10 envelope, 12 cent Prexy. The one in that lot is an earlier use (4th bureau) to a known collector. The type is not scarce, but it's not an "easy to find" type either. I know it’s not a really valuable item, but it’s getting pretty hard to find nice Indiana precancel covers. I’ll take as many as I can get from different towns and mailings.

Aloha -
Interesting note from Paradise.
Keep in mind the present Hawaiians are descended from Tahitians. I was told if one listens very carefully to old time recordings of native Hawaiian speakers, one can identify the sounds of "t", "r", and "s", all found in Tahitian. These "older" subtle sounds in Hawaiian were ignored by the missionaries who were intent on writing Bibles and prayer books that could be understood by everyone on every island. Even today experts can distinguish different "accents" of oldtimers, so it is not surprising to learn of missed letters and missed sounds on other Paicif islands. The current Hawaiian alphabet has 11 consonants and all the vowels used in English, plus different extensions of the vowels (short or long - gives different meaning). Diacritical marks are used to show how these varieties should be pronounced.

Back to work, see you later.

Well 2008 has started off rather nicely for me. Prior to Christmas I bought myself one or two nice little presents which arrived in the post today. One though also had a nice surprise. It was a 1 December 1923 multiple franking of Michel 336B. B denoting the rouletted perf type. One stamp on the front has the plateflaw, broken rosette design. Hard to see I know from the scans but on the reverse is another flaw known as PE 1. The latter flaw is a broken posthorn at the lower left. Both are only ever found on plate printed stamps and are not easy to find on cover.
If interested I can make better scans and show both flaws more clearly.
The other really nice thing was the earliest known date of use for this particular stamp Michel 293 dated 25.9.23.

It is Pango Pango,

Early Fiji CR stamps represent King Thakombau not Cakobau,

C for TH,

Blame the early missionaries who gave most Pacific Islanders a written language for the first time and made it easier with a simplified alphabet,

David I don't think either can be squared circles as no examples I can find have a straight line edge. Squared circles are always formed by a "filled triangle" at the corners, the rest is formed by arcs which break at the sides. Neither of these would have to be cleaned fiscals as they are worth more used than mint anyway. I agree you can't prove anything with those though. Only the £1 is very obviously wrong.

There has been quite a lot of discussion amongst CW collectors about high values with fake cancels around and it would be nice to nail the source. Make it clear this is the first I have seen from this seller and he probably has no idea what has bought for sale. The fiscals he has listed as fine used are a common mistake.

greenwave… SWC is a hit-or-miss proposition. No one on the committee is going to have the extensive knowledge you have (i.e. issue date of stamp versus LKU of a particular cancel) so they will be reluctant to recommend pulling the item(s). If you believe the seller has simply made a mistake, the only thing to do is persist in trying to contact him. If you can get him to discuss the item with you, and he is honest, then he will pull the lot. But $600 is a pretty strong incentive to be “conveniently unavailable” until it is too late.

Timm,
I echo Duncan's recommendation of the HP Deskjet 1220C. I have one and it does the job when I need it. One does need to learn how to feed singles of larger heavy stock but it is doable. I'm sure if you had a lot to do it would give you a chance to learn it well so you didn't have to relearn every time you came back for an oversize, overweight sheet.

NOIP I shall repeat an earlier posting about a fake cancel beacuse up to now the seller has not responded to my posts. In fact 2 of the listing have changed to BIN! Someone is going to get stung on this EDV11 Nyasaland £1.
This one appeared in my searches, which after close inspection shows a cleaned pen cancel and a fake Chinde CDS:-
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=370009954621&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=024
This cancel is Proud D3 with latest known use of 22nd May 1908. This issue started on 22nd July 1908. There are also 2 other fake cancels and 2 fiscal cancels in his BCA/Nyasaland listings. I have informed seller, wait and see. I personally have been happy with this seller and giving him a chance but how long before SWC?

Timm,

I use a HP 1220C printer for oversized pages, and it handles 60 or 80 lb paper with no problem, except for one minor thing - it's a little difficult to get the pages to pass through perfectly straight - rarely, a page will start through a little crooked through the rollers. Maybe I should learn to use the straight through feed, but the pages go easily "around the bend".

I've run 8 1/2 x 11 sheets of 120 lb card stock through it too, and my HP Deskjet 612C also handles that paper. (The card stock is for making custom jewel case inserts, it's a good match for the weight of the originals.)

For me, feeding paper is really not a problem, because I use paper that is even larger than the Scott National pages I imitate. So I use a template for each page that draws a box the size of the finished page, and trim to the line using a paper cutter after the completed page is printed.

It might feed better from a stack, but I feed each page manually, so maybe it's my method that's faulty, and it really is just a minor nuisance.

The 1220C is a discontinued model, but it is a popular workhorse, so it was easy to find a used one on eBay. They sold new for about $300, and because they are reliable, used ones have held their value quite well and were selling in the $150 range, but I was lucky and got one for less, about $85 plus $30 shipping - that was in 2005. We have one at work in a dirty environment, in use every day for perhaps eight years with no problems.

So far, ink cartridges have been easy to find even locally, and of course it prints both black and color if you choose to add a color cartridge.

Timm If you find a reasonably priced printer that will print those oversized Scott pages (without problem) let me know. I've printed a couple thousand or so of them but at the copy store. I've had a hard time finding a copy store that has a copier that will work flawlessly (in a large college town).
Whatever you do, I suggest you use S&K pages. They match Scott Specialty almost exactly. You have to look very close at the border design to see the difference. They cost about half of what the Scott's do at Subway.
When I print them I usually use Steiner formats. I cut a paper frame about an inch wide (made from a Scott size page) to block out the Steiner frame. This is taped to the copy glass. It takes a couple tries to get everything lined up perfectly but once you do you make alignment marks on the "block out" frame. Hope that makes a little sense.
It takes a long time to do it at the copy store. Wish I could do it at home. I have over a thousand pages I need to copy. My daughter got me the Steiner CD and subscription for my birthday. I havn't printed any in a long time because I was waiting for him to finish the pages I needed.
It now looks like he has nearly everything done.

Lynn… Using “PhotoDump” as your image hosting service might be an affront to some people. First of all is the banner above your images which advertises pornography. While I don’t particularly object myself, I can see where that can startle others. Next is the impossibility of opening the scans to a full-size version. I get an irritating message saying that I must be registered to your account for the privilege. That is something I am not about to do.

My suggestion, and it is only that, is the present your image without the ads, flashing banners (“You have won!!!” etc) and people will be more inclined to look at your material and answer your questions. If you use PhotoDump because it is free, please remember that you can get plenty of web space elsewhere to use however you want for as little as $5 a month.

Tiim -
Have used an Apple B&W Laser printer 400/6 since new. I bought it in 1997 and have had success ever since. A couple of minor problem, but it only prints 8 1/2" x 11" paper. It has both a 50 sheet paper tray and straight through ability. Probably won't work with any of the newest computers as it requires Apple system 9 and it is non-USB. )'>) The real beauty is the toner cartridge, does about 5000 pages per cartridge, and the last ones I bought on eBay were $15 each, originally $72@.

My next major purchase will be a laser color printer, no matter the cost. None of the ink printers we've had in the house are even close to having the laser printer, and the supplies are much more expensive in the long run.

So much for my humble opinion.

never presume 'this or that'.. ask.

Thank you, you almost got it. If I saw that at a fair and hadn't had a fix for the day I would probably buy, but it's not INK. Appreciate you thinking of me..

Timm, are there are still B/W ink jet printers? I used to have an C.Itoh 24 needle printer but changed it 3 years ago to a EPSON 1290 printer which can handle even card board (180-220 grams or so...) up to a certain extend. Important is that the paper goes more or less flat thru the printer. In the past, such printers were called flat-bed printers)

Can anyone recommend a wide format ink jet printer for this purpose? I want something easy to use since I will be print only with black ink. Older models are fine. I have been advised to stay away from photo printers.

Thank you

5partners;

The folks who report misdescribed/misidentified eBay stamp catagory listings are called the Stamp Community Watch, and individual members of that group are a secret. You can, however, find out more about that committee and how it operates on the APS website, by doing a search, for example, for "Meeting Minutes" and the way the committee works is discussed in several of them, notably in August, 2006. It is not a secret who the coordinator of the committe is and that information is on the APS website as well.

Actually, a long explaination of how the committee works was posted on another chatboard in the last year (Virtual Stamp Club) and my guess is that you might be able to do a search on that site and find the explaination as well.

5partners,

try a few tests from this specialist collection on how to tell the forgeries from the genuine.

http://www.jaypex.com/Belgium/Q15.htm

The easiest test is the clarity of the imprint, unless clear then it is a fake.

I tried to tell but your scans are clear enough. If they show a blur for the imprint then it may be easier to cancel the listing,

On another subject ,I like your Pam -Am cover its a gem . I already have it with Capt. R.O.D. Sullivan's signator. That cover is from the fourth and last Pacific survey flight which went from San Francisco to Guam .It was the longest over-ocean airplane flight ever made up to that date. DARREN / TRISAIL There was no "AMERICAN BIRTHRIGHT COMMITTEE" it was a name used by the JOHN BIRCH SOCIETY .Those flyers were printed in the hundreds of thousands and can be found in many church libararies.

To call it propaganda is like anything political if its your side ,its truth, and if its your opposition then its lies and propaganda .

It would only have value to a political science collector .

Happy new year! I'm a book seller on Ebay, and have come across some "Fight Communism" Stamps in one of my books. There are 4 stamps attached to a small 3"x 5" leaflet distributed by the American Birthright Committee. I have researched the item and it was put into circulation in 1954. The leaflet and stamps are in mint condition, and the stamp features a flag, the statue of liberty, and a snake in script displaying "communism" at the bottom with a light blue background. The leaflet is yellow in color, and is printed front and back. I could provide a link to a scan of the item if necessary.
I'm trying to figure out what the value of this collection piece would be, since it contains the original propaganda along with 4 stamps. If anyone could help in evaluating the value of this item, I would be greatly appreciative. Thank you in advance. -Darren

Happy New Year!, from a cold Chicago with 6" more of global warming dust still gently falling.

I FINALLY figured out what an "antipodian" is. LOL! Reminds me of a certain episode of the Simpsons, where the US embassy in OZ had spend millions of dollars to make sure the water swirled clockwise in their toilet when flushed, "like its supposed to" in the northern hemisphere. Sadly the humor found there, exists only because it sounds so typically plausible.

Sadly no new stamps to report over the holidays. I'm starting to feel philatelic withdrawal, and I don't like it. Local stamp show this weekend......

wrw1943 - interesting that your auctions on Ebay which are really ads get you more responses than the other stamp venues.
Really shows you how the stamp market is changing.
As far as the APS selling magazines, postcards etc on EBay - with free postage - they are obviously using these auctions to attract potential new members but can use input from veteran Ebay sellers as to other ideas. Maybe someone could find out who is in charge of these APS Ebay auctions and post their email address here so suggestions can be made?

It should be understood there is only one football game worth watching today - Cotton Bowl. Should be fun, and I hope it turns out to be an exciting game with no injuries. All of Hawaii will be watching. I offered to call the check point every few minutes with udates, my supervisor said "No Need". He said has a lot of paper-work to complete today and he will be found in the restaurant at a quiet table. (The only location with a TV!) I think there will be continuous rolling breaks as he "interviews" employees for their end of year evaluations. My guess is that the "inerviews" will be completed about the time the game ends. APS EBAY ADVERTISING;

Happy New Year to everyone. Just a quick observation. I advertise my expertizing service on eBay, in 6 different U.S. catagories at a time, with gallery photo of the certificate, for total cost of $4.50 per 7-day listing or until someone uses the Buy-It-Now and ends it.

Compared to other philatelic mainsteam media, the cost is so cheap. My weekly Linn's classified ad is nearly $50. a pop, American Philatelist, Brookman, Scott Catalog, Scott Value Supplement, Scott Monthly, USSS, etc. are all much, much more expensive, and the eBay ads pull in WAY more business than all of the others combined!

I therefore believe that APS should be exploring more ways to advertise on eBay as a tool for getting new members.

Glad to see that the APS is using eBay as a promotional tool. Hopefully some new members are found as a result? (A $1 listing is a very low cost way to attract a member). I like the idea of approaching eBay and seeing if some eBay benefits could be part of a new membership benefit for APS -- I'll pass that on to the APS board and see if there are any possibilities there.

dbenson...It seems obvious that the APS is not intending to make money from their auctions. By auctioning the American Philatelist they are only going to get bids from non-APS members to whom they can send the magazine and membership information.

Seems like a great idea to me and pretty cheap advertising.

Happy New Year to everyone down under!

Just emphasises how many sellers have no experience in what they are selling.

Sigh so the packet of Qu'aiti state in Hadhramaut stamps I got as a free bonus from someone is worth zilch- oh well, I'll take it to the stamp club meeting next time they have a kids' night.

David, nevertheless, they are part of the Overland Mail. Imprinted envelopes (and labels) had been issued by the Post office. See...
